This weekend is Oscar weekend, which I look forward to every year. In its honor, I wanted to post one of my new favorite party foods just in case you’re having an Oscar party. I have a tendency to try to make way too much food at my parties, so I always like to have one or two things on the list that take very little effort. And not only do these knots take no time – they’re delicious!!
Recipe adapted from here.
Ingredients (makes 10 knots)
1 12 ounce tube of refrigerated buttermilk biscuits (I used Pillsbury Golden Layers Refrigerated Buttermilk Biscuits)
1/4 cup canola oil
3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (I bought the pre-grated cheese at Trader Joe’s)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Cut the dough into 10 separate pieces. Roll each into a long rope (10-12 inches). Tie the dough into a knot, and squeeze the end together.
2. Place the knots on a greased baking sheet and bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until they turn light brown.
3. While the knots are baking, mix the canola oil, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and dried oregano in a bowl. Brush the warm knots with the mixture. These keep for 2-3 days, and can also be frozen.
(Sorry for the not so great photo. This is what happens when I try to photograph my food while preparing for a big party! On the left are my pretzel rolls which are also amazing!)
